Hawzah News Agency- Addressing the file of disarming factions by the Iraqi government, the Najaf Friday Prayer Leader stated: "When the thief is inside your house, handing over weapons holds no meaning."
Referring to the recent bombardment that targeted the Popular Mobilization Forces (Hashd al-Sha'abi), Hojatoleslam al-Qabanchi asked: "Are we facing a new coalition against Iraq?"
He further pointed to the fatwa of "sufficiency jihad" issued by Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Ali al-Sistani, the supreme Shia religious authority in Iraq, in mid-2014 when ISIS had seized control of areas amounting to two-thirds of Iraqi territory, following which the Hashd al-Sha'abi was formed. He added: "Fifty countries united and created the ISIS terrorist group, yet a five-line fatwa overturned this conspiracy."
Commenting on the martyrdom and wounding of over 50 people in the US-Saudi strikes on Hashd al-Sha'abi bases across several Iraqi provinces, Hojatoleslam al-Qabanchi said: "Once again, Iraqi blood has mingled with Iranian blood."
